Joan, a simple peasant girl, claims to experience visions of Saint Margaret, Saint Catherine, and the archangel Michael, which she says were sent by God to guide her conduct.

Despite all likelihood, her duties were far from political. As Jeanne said, she was fighting for the true king of France, Jesus Christ: VII. Charles, who had to be crowned, receives the country only as a deposit, and is merely a representative of the true Lord of the country, Christ. “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
